How the calculation works
Holiday pay is based on your normal weekly pay. We calculate your daily rate from your weekly pay divided by your working days. Statutory entitlement is 5.6 weeks per year. For irregular hours workers, holiday accrues at 12.07% of hours worked.
Worked example
An hourly worker at £12.50/hour, 37.5 hours/week, 5 days/week: Weekly pay = £468.75. Daily rate = £93.75. Statutory entitlement = 28 days. Holiday pay for 28 days = £2,625.

How is holiday pay calculated for zero-hours contracts?
For irregular hours workers, holiday accrues at 12.07% of hours worked. This percentage is derived from the statutory 5.6 weeks of holiday divided by the remaining 46.4 working weeks.
Can my employer include bank holidays in my 28 days?
Yes, employers can include bank holidays as part of your statutory 28-day entitlement. They are not automatically additional days unless your contract says so.
